The Premier's Active Families Challenge is part of the Victorian Government’s ‘Go for your life’ initiative, which aims to improve the levels of physical activity, health and wellbeing of families. The Challenge provided an excellent opportunity for families to spend more quality time together while improving their general health and physical activity levels. In 2009, more than 50,000 Victorians (and four elephants), equalling more than 15,000 families/teams participated in the Premier's Active Families Challenge. The Challenge encouraged Victorians to do 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 days between 8 March and 19 April 2009. All registered families received 15 free passes for participating YMCAs across Victoria, a 15 percent discount at Rebel Sport stores and the chance to win some fantastic prizes including sports equipment packages for their local primary school, gym memberships and sports vouchers. Congratulations to everyone who participated! Keep up the great work and go for your life! Although the Challenge is over, there's still heaps of ways to keep you and your family moving - check them out. Email this article Acknowledgement
