Merri Community Health Service and Melbourne University worked in partnership with the local community to address the issue of child overweight and obesity by working closely with school communities to develop multi-level interventions that were based on the WHO Health Promoting Schools Framework. The project included strategies to demonstrate change to the physical, environmental, social, behavioural and financial impacts and outcomes of the interventions. The project was completed in 2010 and a final report outlines the findings of the study. The processes and interventions used and results/lessons of this project continue to be meaningful for examining policy and implementation approaches to obesity prevention in children.
